I am two.

I turned two on Sunday.

I woke up from my nap to find that mom and dad had set up a party!

Bubbly juice, carrots, and sprinkle cake!

Some of my favorite people showed up, and I opened presents, blew out candles, ate a cake, and wore my birthday girl hat.

It was a great birthday!

This is as good of a photo as we could get. Oh well!

So, thanks to everyone who came, and for all the gifts! It has been a great year! Can you believe I am two?!

Trick or Treat.

I was introduced to a new very odd holiday. You dress up in costume, go to doors and get handed candy. Then your parents take away the candy and don’t let you eat any of it.

I was dressed like this.

I'm supposed to match my ballerina elephant doll.

Mom was dressed like this.

image

Dad didn’t dress up. But he did let me eat this.

Overall it was pretty fun. Odd, but fun.

A special day for mom.

A couple Sundays ago was Mother’s Day. I’ve only experienced one other one, and from that experience I assumed it was supposed to be a sunny spring day where mom sleeps in and gets breakfast in bed. This year was a completely opposite sort of day.

We woke up early and drove for hours so mom could play the oboe, and it was really cold and rainy and snowy! Then we went to eat something called brunch at a very old beautiful hotel.

image

While we were waiting for our table I splashed in puddles, which amused and annoyed mom.

image

Then we walked around a big pond at the hotel, and I found mom a bouquet of flowers but she didn’t let me pick them.

Happy Mother’s Day, mom! It was a special day full of memories and good food, and delightful puddles and snowflakes.

Easter Day.

Happy Easter!

I hope you put on your Easter Dress.

image

I hope you gathered with your family.

image

And I hope you had a picnic in the park.

image

But most of all, I hope you took a moment to think about what it means when someone says “He is Risen!”

“He is risen indeed!”

Easter Eve.

In between Good Friday and Easter is a day known as Easter Eve.

image

Mom and Dad took me to someone’s house with a huge yard. This person must be really messy because they had plastic eggs of all sizes strewn around and they wanted all the kids to help pick them up.

image

I was glad my basket was so small because then I only had to get a few eggs, most of which I took from other kids.

image

I thought it was all kind of odd until mom told me to open one of the eggs.

image

Then it all became clear. The homeowner isn’t messy, they just have a giant magic plastic chicken that lays eggs filled with toys!!! I can’t wait to clean up after it next Easter Eve!!!

Happy Easter!

Rememories.

I was just remembering what fun I had at Christmas, and some of the special things that happened.

image

Grammie made me a beautiful dress.

image

I loved my christmas jammies.

image

All those boxes wrapped in paper under the tree were actually filled with toys!

image

And I learned a really great story about a man and a lady and a baby and a donkey and an inn and a manger.

Remembering special memories is important.

O Christmas Tree.

image

Our Christmas Tree is decorated and twinkly, ready for Christmas… which is coming soon, I think.

Last year I was just a baby so I didn’t really pay attention to the details of the tree decorating process. Dad had to teach me the proper process, handed down to him from his parents. The only detail we missed is that we didn’t chop down our own in the woods. Next year, perhaps.

image

So many trees to choose from.

image

Dad, this one.

image

Rowan, how about this one?

image

Just choose one and put it on the car already!

image

Only white lights are okay with dad.

image

Place the ornaments on.

Ready for a Merry Christmas!

Rumor has it there will be presents under that tree very soon. I’m hoping for very fun boxes and ribbons… which usually have toys inside.
