A very long good day.

This weekend we all went up to Copper and Vail.

First we waited at a finish line in Copper for Uncle Anders to ride past on his bike.

image

We clanged these bells at bikers as they finished. I don't know why.

image

It was exciting when we finally spotted Uncle Anders crossing the finish line.

image

He biked 78 miles, which is a lot. He let me sit on his bike, but probably only because he was sick of sitting on it.

Then we drove up to Vail to walk around.

image

Me, dad, Uncle Anders, Grandma, and Grampy! Just walking around Vail.

image

Mom told me that she and dad had their picture taken at this very spot while they were on their honeymoon.

We stopped for some play time in the water.

image

The water was quite chilly at first.

image

There is nothing as refreshing as wading in a mountain stream.

image

Well, okay, maybe this is just as refreshing as wading in a mountain stream.

On the way home we had dinner at the best pizza joint, ever. It was a perfect ending to a very long good day.

Beau Jo's Pizza. Apparently it is a mountain classic. As am I.

The good things in life.

Allow me to share some of my favorite things with you.

First, my favorite toy is my rubber duckie. He goes swimming with me, but he is an all-around good guy.

image

Duckie is so squishy and blue. I love him.

I love harassing, I mean, playing with Twizzle. He is the best Chocolate Lab a baby could have.

image

Twizzle is so patient with me.

I love to suck on my thumb. It is so great that I have two of them and that they go with me everywhere.

image

Seven month photo shoot outtake.

And as much as I dislike naps, I enjoy finding new positions in which to take them.

image

Just expanding my horizons.

And finally, I love when dad gives me pieces of grass on our hikes. Oh, well, I suppose I should say both dad and hiking are also my favorite things… but poking mom with the long grass is definitely paramount.

image

Dad. Hiking. Grass.

As I get older, I love discovering the new wonderful things in life. Naps, shots, and not being allowed to play with iPhones are not on my list of wonderful things, but my list is very long and growing. It is good to be a baby.

Father’s Day.

Today was my first Father’s Day. Well, I guess it was dad’s first Father’s Day, too.

We went to Vail and drooled over skis,

image

I have no clue how to use these things. Mom says you need that white snow stuff first.

and ate at a Little Diner, (which is both the name and the description),

image

The Little Blogger made an appearance at the Little Diner. So fitting.

and then we hiked on something called a mesa. It was like a big flat table top.

image

Riding on dad's shoulders. Classic.

Happy First Father’s Day, dad! It was a good day, wasn’t it?

Promoted.

I recently got a promotion. I am now part of the technical design staff.

image

My own keyboard allows me to make my own design decisions, even if they don't seem to show up in the final product.

I was most recently in the position of supportive designer.

image

I have good design input, and make good drool on desk sketches.

I started out in a very entry level position, which mostly consisted of being the inspirational support to the head designer.

image

My employee reviews complained that I too often napped on the job.

As I acquire new skills in my continuing education classes, I am sure I will continue to be promoted. I recently signed up for the baby food finger painting class, and those skills should be a big help as dad tackles his tough design issues.

Hiking.

You guys should try this thing called “hiking.” It involves getting strapped to someone’s chest and getting hauled up a trail.

image

Hiking is so easy.

It is a pretty great time, especially when you can get up close and personal to the big rock formations that could be seen from the hospital room on the day you were born!

Up close and personal...

...to those giant rocks in the background.
