A special day for mom.

A couple Sundays ago was Mother’s Day. I’ve only experienced one other one, and from that experience I assumed it was supposed to be a sunny spring day where mom sleeps in and gets breakfast in bed. This year was a completely opposite sort of day.

We woke up early and drove for hours so mom could play the oboe, and it was really cold and rainy and snowy! Then we went to eat something called brunch at a very old beautiful hotel.

image

While we were waiting for our table I splashed in puddles, which amused and annoyed mom.

image

Then we walked around a big pond at the hotel, and I found mom a bouquet of flowers but she didn’t let me pick them.

Happy Mother’s Day, mom! It was a special day full of memories and good food, and delightful puddles and snowflakes.

Easter Day.

Happy Easter!

I hope you put on your Easter Dress.

image

I hope you gathered with your family.

image

And I hope you had a picnic in the park.

image

But most of all, I hope you took a moment to think about what it means when someone says “He is Risen!”

“He is risen indeed!”

Easter Eve.

In between Good Friday and Easter is a day known as Easter Eve.

image

Mom and Dad took me to someone’s house with a huge yard. This person must be really messy because they had plastic eggs of all sizes strewn around and they wanted all the kids to help pick them up.

image

I was glad my basket was so small because then I only had to get a few eggs, most of which I took from other kids.

image

I thought it was all kind of odd until mom told me to open one of the eggs.

image

Then it all became clear. The homeowner isn’t messy, they just have a giant magic plastic chicken that lays eggs filled with toys!!! I can’t wait to clean up after it next Easter Eve!!!

Happy Easter!

Winter weekend wonder.

Last weekend we went away for a snowy weekend in the mountains.

image

So much snow fell overnight. It made our drive long but our morning sparkly.

image

I love when everyone else has to walk but I get to be pulled in my sled.

image

It was perfect snow for making snowballs.... and eating.

image

A trip to the mountains is incomplete without an afternoon in Vail.

image

The best view of any mountain town is from the shoulders of a dad.

I love my family, and I love the snowy mountains…. especially if the bright sun is shining on both at the same time!!!

Flattery.

Don’t you hate it when you are wearing a very adorable outfit, but then you run into someone else wearing the same thing?

image

It’s even worse when that someone else is your mother.

image

It couldn’t have been an accidentally matching outfit. You dress both of us, mom. That makes it embarrassingly on purpose.

image

At least it was a cute outfit.

Trader Joe’s.

Mom was really excited about the new grocery store that just opened up in town. So, on Valentine’s Day we were in line bright and early.

image

There was a lot of excitement when we got inside, and someone put a lei on my head.

image

Trader Joe’s seems like any other grocery store. They have flowers.

image

And they have bananas.

image

Mom seemed to know exactly what items she wanted and she joyously threw them in the cart and then we left. Whatever makes mom happy, I guess. I have a feeling we will be going there more often now, but I will always know that we were some of the first people in that store. Thank goodness.

So, welcome to town, Trader Joe’s.
