Familyventure Two.

image

My family knows how to adventure, and I don’t meant merely trail rides and mountain lakes. This photo memorializes a day of tram rides through the sky, picnics in the rain, hand feeding chipmunks, hiking and rock climbing. It was fantastic.

Our family gained one small fluffy chipmunk on this adventure. Little guy knows this is a family to hang out with.

Familyventure.

Grandma likes horses. So we all took her on a trail ride.

image

Dad, me, bored horse, grandma.

And by “we all” I mean these people.

image

Auntie Gwendie, me/dad, Grampy, Grandma, mom, Uncle Anders

And by “took her” I mean Grandma showed everyone what a horse woman she is while everyone just tried to keep their horses on the trail.

….oh… but actually, I have to admit… this is what my trail ride looked like.

image

Mud, rocks, mountain lake, perfection.

Maybe someday I will be the horse woman Grandma is, but for now I’m still a bit too small, and mom couldn’t go because of the “Little Bother Situation”, and dad just wanted to throw rocks in the lake with me.

But, it was still a great familyventure.

To trek.

To trek, one must start with a reliable set of shoes.

image

Find some shoes that will do the walking for you.

To trek, one must find trustworthy companions.

image

My mom and dad are my favorite trekking companions. For now.

image

Twizzle isn't trustworthy and he didn't carry anything, but he still makes a good trekking companion.

image

Grampy and grandma trek very well.

To trek, one must have protection from the elements.

image

A portable roof is highly recommended.

To trek, one must rest when one is tired.

image

I got to rest and continue to trek. Best shoes ever.

To trek, one must follow a reliable path.

image

It helps if the reliable path is also beautiful.

To trek, one must have an end goal.

image

This lake is named Isabelle. It is lovely.

image

I wouldn't know, I slept right through it.

So, go have your own trek…. just try not to miss the beautiful lake at the end of the trail.

A very long good day.

This weekend we all went up to Copper and Vail.

First we waited at a finish line in Copper for Uncle Anders to ride past on his bike.

image

We clanged these bells at bikers as they finished. I don't know why.

image

It was exciting when we finally spotted Uncle Anders crossing the finish line.

image

He biked 78 miles, which is a lot. He let me sit on his bike, but probably only because he was sick of sitting on it.

Then we drove up to Vail to walk around.

image

Me, dad, Uncle Anders, Grandma, and Grampy! Just walking around Vail.

image

Mom told me that she and dad had their picture taken at this very spot while they were on their honeymoon.

We stopped for some play time in the water.

image

The water was quite chilly at first.

image

There is nothing as refreshing as wading in a mountain stream.

image

Well, okay, maybe this is just as refreshing as wading in a mountain stream.

On the way home we had dinner at the best pizza joint, ever. It was a perfect ending to a very long good day.

image

Beau Jo's Pizza. Apparently it is a mountain classic. As am I.

Poor Grampy.

Grampy got his knee re-replaced. Mom said he had a knee and then another knee and now another knee. Sounds pretty kneedy to me.

I know he isn’t feeling super great, but he certainly looked pretty great.

image

Grampy is cool. Even if he is balder than I am.

image

He let me sit in his spit-up bucket. It is something we bonded over.

Get better soon Grampy! I kneed you to haul me up mountains this summer.
